4-3: Project 1: Submit Project Plan
======================================================
Purpose
Your goal is to create a design for a software
interface. You will experience the scope of the design process from
brainstorming ideas and gathering information about users’ needs to
storyboarding, prototyping, and finally, testing and refining your product.
As you work on the software interface, you will demonstrate your ability to apply fundamental Human-Computer Interaction principles to interface analysis, design, and implementation. You will be responsible for delivering project components to your professor at several points during the course.

Action Items
You will need to decide on an idea for an interface. It
could be a web site, a mobile app, an appliance touch screen, etc. Don’t make
your idea too broad. Focus on something that solves a problem or fills a need.
Another approach is to take an interface that is very poor and reimagine
it. Your project idea needs to be sufficiently complex to show your
ability to design multiple screens and interaction flows as the user carries
out a small number of tasks.
1) Brainstorm ideas. You might want to use a free, online mind-mapping tool like SpiderScribe or Mindomo. Here are some questions you might want to consider to focus your brainstorming:
a) Think of a service you or your friends use. What’s the biggest avoidable hassle (inconvenience) customers must endure?
b) What happens in your daily routine that is complex or confusing? How could you simplify it?
c) Think of a domain that interests you: shopping, elementary education, exercise, social media, etc. What possibilities are there to do something new or better? What might be redesigned for newer or different technologies like smart phones or gaming platforms?
2) Narrow your choices down to the best 2 or three ideas.

Pick Your Idea and Begin to Think About Your Potential Users
1) Submit your idea to your professor for approval.
2) Format your submission using the following sections:
a) The Problem
b) Why It’s Interesting
c) Main Users Affected
d) Current Solutions
e) Shortcomings and Strengths of Current Solutions

Title
of project: Find & Read Cheaply!
Problem:
Many people love
reading but buying new books can be expensive. Used books can be half the price
but there are no online Arabic site that helps you to find such used book for
selling or exchanging nearby your house,
neither if you want to buy it face to face nor you want it shipped to another
city within the country.
Why it
is interesting?
I have always had
this issue when I want to buy new books, but they seem to be very expensive. I
thought why can't I buy used books? But there was no used book store in my
city. That’s why having such an app will help me and other book worms like me
to read cheaply J.
Users
affected:
My targeted users of
this application would be anyone interested in reading and wants to spend less
money and buying lots of books in return. It also interests users who wants to
find rare books which cannot be found in the city.
Current
Solutions:
Amazon.com is in
English language and you can buy expensive new books without having the chance
to exchange books in return.
This app will help
readers from all around the middle east to post pictures of their used books,
determine some details about the book and make it ready for selling. It also
allows them to buy used books by allowing them to select among different kinds
of choices. These choices include :
·
Selecting the country and city if you want to buy,
sell or exchange face to face.
·
Search by the author, the book name, keyword,
publishing site…etc
·
Select the way of pay: credit card, face to face.
E.g. if you are in
Makah and you want to buy a book, you can easily use the app, select the
country and city, search for the book by genre( or name, author… etc) and find
the nearby sellers for face to face exchanging or buying or order for shipping.
Shortcomings
and Strengths of Current Solutions:
·
It may be a problem to pay online for used book
without seeing it clearly especially if the picture was not clear.
·
It may be costly to ship a book to another city, it
should be a punch of books to cut the costs.
Main
Goals of the project:
·
Helps readers to buy used books cheaply.
·
Helps readers to find specific rare books which can't
be found easily.
·
Helps readers to sell used books.
·
Helps readers to exchange used books.
·
Save costs.
